Hey all! I have a job interview tomorrow!! It's only for a temporary job, but money is money, right?? I have to decide what to wear on my nails...
Anyway, this week's FingerFood's Theme Buffet prompt is Oriental. I have always been in love with Thai art and architecture, since it seems to be such an interesting mix of South and East Asian influences. So I Googled for some Thai art motifs and picked a (simplified) one to do on my nails.
I still need more practice freehanding (and maybe an even tinier brush!) but I had a lot of fun doing this mani! I used Deborah Lippmann Just Walk Away Renee, Maybelline Bold Gold and Revlon Red Carpet.

The Neverending Pile Challenge: Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York
The product in this post was given to me as a gift. All opinions are my own.
Hi! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! We went to a department potluck for my husband's work and I made my famous mac and cheese, which was completely devoured! (Too bad--we were hoping for leftovers.)
Today's prompt for the Neverending Pile Challenge is most expensive. I'm not 100% sure (and too lazy to check), but I think my most expensive polishes are my Deborah Lippmanns. I only have a few untried DLs, and in fact they're some of my oldest untrieds; my mom gave me a bunch for my birthday in 2012, right after I started collecting polish. I decided to do a swatch of Cleopatra in New York, and man, I really should have worn this polish earlier! It's gorgeous!
As you can see, Cleopatra in New York is a black jelly with two sizes of gold glitter. Black glitter jellies are a real balancing act because you want them to be dark enough without hiding the glitter too much, and I think Deborah Lippmann totally nailed it. This polish just oozes glam! (I always know a polish is really amazing when it makes my husband go "ooooh".)
The formula was equally awesome--not thick or goopy, and the glitter cooperated very well. The brush picked up a ton of glitter every time, so it was easy to get good coverage in two coats. I went with two layers of topcoat to get my nails nice and smooth.
Cleopatra in New York retails for $20 (15 ml) at Deborah Lippmann's site!
Total untrieds tried: 20

Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light, then and now
Rather than just doing a regular swatch post today, I thought I'd do something a little more fun. I wanted to wear Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light because it's so gorgeous, and then I remembered that the last time I wore it was almost exactly a year ago. I got it as a birthday present from my parents (cool parents, huh??) last year, when I was just starting out collecting nail polish. And it just so happens I took a picture of that mani!
Let's start with the pics I took today. Ray of Light is a beautiful indigo jelly with flakies that shift from pink through yellow to green. This is two coats, but I probably could have done with a third. (I'm just too impatient, heh.)
I love that I was able to capture the color shift in one shot! Here's another for good measure:
This polish is so drool-worthy. Can't stop looking at those flakies!
Now let's take a look at my picture from one year ago:
Ignoring the fact that I used horrible indoor lighting, you can see how much my manicure skills have improved in a year! I knew enough to clean up my cuticles, but left a mess around the edges of my fingers. And I didn't bother to shape or grow out my nails. And obviously my ability to pose has improved since I've started blogging!
I really enjoyed looking through my pictures of manicures I did last year. I think it would be a lot of fun to re-create (and improve upon) more of them!
Feel free to share any old, embarrassing mani pics with me in the comments!

Today's mani: Thanksgiving nails
I finally got a chance to do my nails today! I had to do my Thanksgiving nails since we're traveling tomorrow--hopefully they'll last through Thursday...
I first did a gradient using Deborah Lippmann Just Walk Away Renee and Revlon Stormy Night, then I added some leaf stamps with Revlon Gold Coin. (The stamp patterns are all from Winstonia plate W119.) I really like the look of the gradient; I just wish the smaller leaf patterns had come out more distinctly (I think the problem is that I stamped with a foil polish).
Now I'm in the mood for turkey and cranberries...
I hope all my American readers have a great holiday! I'll be back soon with a giveaway!!
(Pssst...have you stopped by my Etsy shop yet?)

31-Day Challenge #17: glitter
For today's prompt I barely had to think at all before I knew what I wanted to do. I love the look of full-coverage glitter with solid-color accents; I've seen the idea on several blogs (I think on Accio Lacquer most recently).
This is two coats of Deborah Lippmann Superstar with Revlon Stiletto on the tips. I mattified the accent nail, then I decided to make the whole mani matte:
I think both versions are pretty classy! Which do you like better?
Don't forget to admire all of today's sparkly nails!

31-Day Challenge #16: Peruvian patterns
Well folks, today I'm officially more than halfway done with the 31-Day Challenge!! Just gotta keep that momentum going!
Today's prompt is "tribal". Can I just say first that I really hate the term "tribal"? It's often incorrect and just kind of racist. :-(
*gets off high horse* Anyway, I'm assuming "tribal" means "a pattern used by non-white people". I chose to reproduce some Peruvian textile patterns I found--I love the bright colors they use!
I picked four patterns from this lovely picture to attempt (hopefully you can tell which ones):
Don't forget to look at everyone else's "tribal" nails!

I'm pretty impressed with myself, I must say! I'm especially proud of the pattern on my ring finger.
I used a ton of polishes for this one:
- Revlon Impulsive
- Sinful Colors Snow Me White
- Deborah Lippmann On the Beach
- Revlon Plum Seduction
- Sally Hansen Lightening
- Essie Play Date
- Essie DJ Play That Song
- Essie The More the Merrier
- Wet 'n' Wild On a Trip
- Julep Meryl
- Julep Nan
- L'Oreal L'Orange
Don't forget to look at everyone else's "tribal" nails!
