Today's mani: Anniversary peacock nails

Heya gang! Yesterday was my and Mr. ALIQUID's second anniversary--it definitely doesn't feel like two years already! We celebrated with some big steaks at a nice restaurant (OK, I ate about a third of my steak and took the rest home). And of course I wanted to do a nice mani for the occasion!

The other day I watched this tutorial about how to make stamping "decals" without actually having to let them dry and peel them up. This kind of blew my mind (I'm probably the last person to discover this technique, right?). So I decided to try it out, and it actually works! Stamping decals without bubbles and wrinkles, hooray!!

I started with a base of Zoya Song and added a coat of Out the Door. While that was drying, I used the peacock feather stamp from MoYou Pro 03 with Julep Harley and colored in the spots with Zoya Ziv and Ivanka. I let the stamp dry on the stamper for a minute or so, then stamped it directly onto the nail. I guess the topcoat grabs the stamp even after it's mostly dry!

Swatch: Three new Femme Fatales

The products in this post were purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Happy Monday everyone!

So after being in the nail polish game for a while now, it takes a lot for a new polish to really wow me, much less an entire collection. But lately I've been absolutely drooling over everything Femme Fatale has released! That's why I had to break my no-buy for Color4Nails' latest restock and grab some of Femme Fatale's newest polishes. I've managed to get three swatched for you, go me!

All of these had a great formula and stayed exactly where you put them. The only negative was that, since they have sheer bases, I got some bald spots on my tips. But honestly I didn't care!

First up is Lantern Waste. This has a dark slate grey base with orange-to-green flakies and red-to-gold shifting shimmer!

Femme Fatale Lantern Waste. Two coats with Out the Door topcoat.

This has such a creepy vibe! Despite the strong shimmer, it wasn't brush-strokey at all.

Next is Heart's Desires. It has a dusty rose base with green-to-blue flakies and lots of copper holo microglitter.

I love the way this polish takes a "grandma" color and makes it exciting again!

Last but not least, I have Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall... I was so happy to get this one because I missed the first two restocks and was terrified that I'd missed it forever. When I first saw the swatches, I wrote that it looked like a polish a unicorn would wear, and I still think that's true! It has a very pale turquoise base with pink-to-gold shifting shimmer and lots of silver holo glitter.

The shimmer was so strong in my normal lighting that it freaked out my camera, so I got some natural light shots. I love how different it looks at various angles!

There's definitely a touch of magic in that bottle, don't you think? The polish was pretty smooth after one coat of topcoat.

Well, are you as in love with these Femme Fatales as I am? If you want to grab one, keep a close eye on the Femme Fatale shop and/or their stockists, because I'm sure they've been selling out really quickly!

Today's mani: Bridesmaid's nails!

Happy Monday everyone! We had a great time this weekend celebrating my sister-in-law's wedding. She and her new husband are both amazing people, and Mr. ALIQUID and I were honored to be part of the wedding party. This was the first wedding we've been to since our own wedding two years ago, so it was nice to let someone else get all the attention while we got to enjoy the food!

Of course I did a mani for the occasion, and I made sure to grab a few pics for you! The wedding colors were navy blue and coral, and my bridesmaid's dress was navy, so I went with coral and silver for the mani.

I decided to do stamping decals over nude nails for a delicate look. I used an image from MoYou Pro 09 and stamped it with Julep Harley (the silver) onto a plastic bag. I colored in the flowers with OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today, and also removed parts of the image with acetone (the solid color flowers looked like fuzzy blobs, so I didn't want to keep them). Once the decals were on my nails, I added some silver dots to fill in some of the empty space.

This was one of those manis where you could see all the little bubbles and wrinkles up close, but it looked great from a normal viewing distance, so I was happy with it!

Here's a rare glimpse of Mr. ALIQUID with me--aren't the flowers beautiful?!

I was totally blown away by the job the hairstylist did on me, especially since I didn't give her much direction! I just told her "I want an updo, but not too high up," and she did the rest!

Last but not least, here's Trudy after we picked her up from the boarder's yesterday. She was pretty wiped out after the experience and has spent the entire day so far sleeping it off.

Swatch: Dollish Polish You Know Nothing, Jon Snow

The product in this post was purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Hi everyone! I've got a fun polish on today: Dollish Polish You Know Nothing, Jon Snow. Obviously this is a Game of Thrones-themed polish! I decided to wear it because the current season is ending this weekend, but I can't do a mani for the finale because I'll be at my sister-in-law's wedding. (My mani for that is gonna be cute--I'll show you later!)

So this is a white (or slightly off-white, I can't tell) crelly with black microglitter and blue-green iridescent glitter. The iridescent stuff reminds me of the White Walkers for sure!

Dollish Polish You Know Nothing, Jon Snow. Three coats with Out the Door topcoat.

The formula was OK--not thick at all, but it dried quickly, so you have to work fast or it will clump up. I needed three coats for opacity (although I only have a mini bottle, so with a full size brush it might only need two). It was very smooth after one coat of topcoat.

This polish is in stock at the Dollish Polish shop in both sizes!

Today's mani: Gold on red stamping

Hiya folks! Today I decided to finally try out the squishy stamper I got last winter, as well as one of my newest MoYou stamping plates. And I was definitely impressed with both of them! Check it out...

The base polish is Cult Nails Iconic, and the stamping is done in Maybelline Bold Gold. The images come from the MoYou plate Doodles 03. I love this plate because it's entirely covered in lots of different circular patterns, so you can use any spot on the plate and get an interesting design. And my squishy stamper is sooooo much better than my old Konad one, I just can't believe it! The images came out almost perfectly!

I have to show you my other fingers too, since each one is different! (Wow, haven't posted my right hand in a while.)

This is definitely one of those manis that I can't stop staring at. Even Mr. ALIQUID noticed it!

May's Museum-Worthy Manis!

Hey gang! It's time once again to show you my favorite nail art from last month! I have lots of bright, summery manis today. As always, please go visit the original artists' posts and give them some love!

1. Rainbow Mermaid Nails by Didoline's Nails

For me, the best part of this mani is the contrast between the fuzzy sponged background and the crisp stamped lines. Plus, I think we can all agree that rainbows are awesome.

2. Spring Clothes/Accessories by Marine Loves Polish

I always love fabric-print-inspired manis. This one has a great naturalistic feel!

3. Sun Bleached Neon Decal Nail Art by Manicurator

This mani looks like the 80s exploded, and I can't help loving it! Makes me want to put on some leg warmers and a side ponytail.

4. 3D Dinosaur Excavation by PiggieLuv

Clearly, Narmai is operating on a whole different plane of nail art than most of us. I couldn't even paint a dinosaur in 2D, forget the extra dimension!

5. Neon Gradient Pattern Nails for Summah by Simply Nailogical

A funky and futuristic take on tribal nails!

Honorable mention: Multicolor Gradient by Blingfinger

May's Gimme That Polish!

Whoa, can you believe it's June already? 2015 is almost half over, you guys. Although I will be happy when the days start getting shorter again, since right now the sun wakes us up at around 5:30!

Anyway, today I've got my top lemmings from last month (visit my Pinterest board to see the rest). As always, be sure to go read the original reviews for more info!

1. Dance Legend - Map of Scars

Have you seen these weird new textured polishes that Dance Legend has come up with? I feel like they completely slipped under the radar, but I think they're super interesting! When they dry they develop this wrinkled pattern. I really want to see this in real life! (Dance Legend shop | swatch by Marine Loves Polish)

2. Powder Perfect - Borders of the Forest

This one has a lot going on, but it's still very moody and toned-down. Definitely makes me think of a haunted forest! (Powder Perfect shop | swatch by The Nail Polish Project)

3. Femme Fatale - Lantern Waste

OK, I'll be honest, I could NOT pick a favorite from the White Witch collection. So you're going to have to go look at all of them! Femme Fatale has been hitting it out of the park this year--great combos of textures that you wouldn't expect together, and some very magical colors. (Femme Fatale shop | swatch by Very Emily)

4. Lacquer Lust - Son of a Beachin' Unicorn

Love this unexpected combo--delicate holo fairy dust then WHAM! neon glitter. Clever and fun. (Lacquer Lust shop | swatch by Very Emily)

5. Reverie Nail Lacquer - Berry Sorbet

Another happy glitter mix from Reverie! This really screams summer to me, even without any neon. (Reverie Nail Lacquer shop | swatch by The Mercurial Magpie)
